Obituary for Johnny R. Terry

JOHNNY R. TERRY, 83, of Albany, IL, died Friday, March 8, 2024, at MercyOne Medical Center in Clinton, IA.


A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the Lusk Memorial Cemetery in Albany, IL, with Pastor Andrew Robinson, executive pastor at Wildwood Baptist Church in East Moline, IL, officiating.  Cremation rites have been accorded. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established.


John was born September 1, 1940, in Ridgely, TN, to James P. and Bonny B. (Moore) Terry. He was educated in rural Tennessee. On August 15, 1960, he married Jean Ellen Redell in Erie, IL, and they shared their lives for 26 years until Jean’s passing on December 2, 1986. He later married Margaret Jane “Peggy” (Specht) Hill on September 24, 1988 in Erie, IL. John contributed his talents to the John Deere Foundry in East Moline, IL, until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Wildwood Baptist Church in East Moline.


Survivors include his wife, Peggy; two daughters, Tammy J. (Thomas) Peck of Pocahontas, AR and Betty A. Terry of Rock Falls, IL; one son, Bobby J. Terry of Prophetstown, IL; one stepdaughter, Susan E. Fisher of Sterling, IL; three stepsons, Robert L. (Tammy) Hill of Albany, IL, William E. Hill of Indianapolis, IN, and Lawrence N. (Susan) Hill of Noblesville, TN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joan (Bryan) Patterson, Janie Smith and Judy (Jess) Flores; four brothers, Thomas (Marian) Terry, Jackie Terry, Joseph Terry and Lawrence Terry.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jean Ellen; one brother, James Terry.
