Obituary for John V. Countryman
JOHN V. COUNTRYMAN, 77, of Hooppole, IL, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at his home. John was born May 5, 1936, in Geneseo, IL, to Clayton and Velma (Ott) Countryman. He was educated in the Prophetstown grade schools and graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1954. He then attended the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL. He married Gladys Bush on June 20, 1958. John farmed in the rural Prophetstown and Hooppole area his entire life. He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Hooppole, where he served as treasurer for a number of years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #990 in Geneseo. John enjoyed his gatherings with his coffee group. He also enjoyed watching sporting events. Mostly he enjoyed the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Sandra (Brad) Luedtke of Port Byron, IL, Nancy (Mark) Lohman of Geneseo, IL and Peggy (Bryan) Johnston of Victoria, IL; one son, Steve (Jeni) Countryman of Prophetstown, IL; sixteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (Don) Nunnally of Lincoln, NE and Margaret (Vernon) Trucano of Ottumwa, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Amanda Luedtke; two brothers, Bill and Marvin Countryman.
