Obituary for John J. Wiebenga
JOHN J. WIEBENGA, 81, of Rock Falls, IL, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL. John was born December 12, 1931, in Fulton, IL, to Jordan D. and Sarah (Hoogheim) Wiebenga. He was educated in the Fulton Christian Grade School and was a graduate of Fulton High School. He married Alberta J. Gladhill on January 1, 1954, in Clinton, IA. John served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He engaged in farming in the Thomson and Morrison, IL areas until retiring in 1995. Following retirement he was employed by Menard"s in Sterling, IL. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. He enjoyed fishing, planting tomatoes and flowers. He was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. Survivors include his wife, Alberta; three daughters, Deb (Dave) Zink of Rock Falls, IL, Lori (Steve) Benson of Morrison, IL and Vicky (Stu) Stewart of Mulberry, FL; one son, Randy (Kathie) Wiebenga of Port Byron, IL; nine grandchildren, Jamie (Misty Hawk) McDoneld, Mindy VanHooser, Abby Benson, Lenny Stewart, Heather Stewart, Jim (Erica Varner) Wiebenga, Tim (Melissa) Wiebenga, Ashley Wiebenga, Shane Wiebenga; seven great grandchildren, Alex McDoneld, Isabella McDoneld, Evan Wiebenga, Ethan Weibenga, Michael wiebenga, Colin Wiebenga, Jayden Wiebnega. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Annette Wiebenga and Hazel Maring; two brothers, David and Jerry Wiebenga.
