Obituary for John H. Norman
JOHN H. NORMAN, 84, of 604 Glenwood Dr., Morrison, IL, died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Morrison Community Hospital in Morrison. John was born January 12, 1924 in Fulton, Illinois to William and Gertrude (Sissing) Norman. He was educated in the East Sandridge Grade School and Mineral Springs Grade School of rural Whiteside county before he graduated from Fulton High School in Fulton, IL in 1941. He married Helen Sloot on November 28, 1947 in Morrison, IL. John was engaged in farming in the rural Garden Plain and Morrison areas and was also employed at the former Agrico in Fulton, IL and Baar Potato Farm in Fenton, IL. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, serving as an elder or deacon for 48 years. He served as a Christian Endeavor leader, Vice President of Men"s Brotherhood and was active in Sunday School and Couples Club. He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed collecting John Deere miniature tractors, toy cars, trucks, banks and attending toy shows. Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Diane (Chuck L.) Bos of Geneseo, IL, and Cheryl (Rob) Stearns of Hudsonville, MI; one son, Robert (Margaret) Norman of Clinton, IA; six grandchildren, Russell (Amanda) Bos, Katie (Scott) Lewis, Beth Bos, Michael (Megin) Stearns, Rebecca (David) Green, Nathan Norman; six great grandchildren, Cassidy, Kaysey and Chloe Bos, Karah Bos, Nicole Lewis, Faith Green; one sister, Mrs. Marguerite Clark of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roger Lee Norman; two grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Stearns; two brothers, Elmer and Robert Norman.
