JIM POULTER, 82, of Prophetstown IL, died Friday, May 26, 2023 at Hammond Henry Hospital in Geneseo, IL.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Friday, July 7, 2023 at the Prophet Hills Country Club in Prophetstown, IL. His eleven grandchildren will be serving as honorary pallbearers. The Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials to Multiple Sclerosis Association, ALS Association and Florida Keys Childrens Shelter have been established by the family.
Jim was born March 24, 1941, in Morrison, IL, to Ben and Irene (Clementz) Poulter. He was educated in the West Hume Grade School and was a 1959 graduate of Prophetstown High School. He worked for Fairbanks and Morris in East Moline, and Eclipse Lawn Mower in Prophetstown until enlisting in the Air Force in 1960; he served for four years. On July 31, 1965 he married Mary Edlund in Morrison. Jim was employed at General Electric in Morrison, where he was instrumental in their offshore operations. He worked there for 37 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Prophetstown. Jim was passionate about his wife Mary, and enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Prophet Hills Country Club, where he also was a past president and board member, and also was employed there for 10 years after his retirement. He liked to work in his yard and was a Chicago sports fan. He and Mary enjoyed “music research” and socializing with friends and wintering in the Florida Keys and other places of interest. Jim will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with them and watching them in their various activities.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; one son, Jimmy (Karin) Poulter of St. Joseph, IL; two daughters, Angie (Ben) Kemmer of Tavernier, FL and Nicki (Adam) Crady of Prophetstown; eleven grandchildren, Josh, Mady, Katie and Jonny Poulter, Calvin, Keifer, Edy and Demi Kemmer and Kanyon, Dutch and Hudson Crady; one sister, Rita (Bob) of Waterford, NY; one brother, Bryan (Mary) Poulter of Colfax, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; one daughter, Darcy, in infancy.
