Obituary for Jessica Marie Gilliam
JESSICA MARIE GILLIAM, 36, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 in Grand Rapids.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22nd at 7:00 PM at Mars Hill Bible Church in Grandville, MI; 3501 Fairlanes Ave. SW. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the church prior to the service on Thursday, February 22nd from 5:00-7:00 PM. There will be an additional Celebration of Life, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Saturday March 3, 2018 at Triple Play in Fulton, IL. Jessi was born June 16, 1981, in Fulton, IL, to Peg Wessels and was adopted by Mike Wessels in 1986. She attended Unity Christian School in Fulton, IL, graduating in 1999. While in high school she went on several SERVE trips and conventions. After graduation she went to Calvin College, Grand Valley State University and Grand Rapids Community College, where she earned her LPN degree. Jessi married Jordan Gilliam on October 20, 2008 in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Together they had a son, Isaiah, in 2009 and a daughter, Adelyn, in 2012. Jessi loved caring for and serving people; she was a committed nurse and dedicated to walking alongside people in the healthcare field as a visiting nurse. She loved doing things with her children and family, and loved to cook and entertain for their friends.
Survivors include her husband and children; parents, Mike and Peg Wessels of Fulton; father-in-law, Willie Gilliam; mother-in-law, Diann Gilliam-Johnson; brother, Michael (Kate) Wessels of Fulton; sister-in-law, Lynda (Paul) Marklevits of Grand Rapids, and Patricia (Brian) Patterson of North Carolina; grandmothers, Arlene Stuart and Marlene Wessels of Fulton; many aunts, uncle and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, James Wessels and her maternal grandfather, Robert Stuart.
