Obituary for Jennie Van Dyke
JENNIE VANDYKE, 101, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the nursing home. Jennie was born September 15, 1907 in Ustick Township, IL, to Dick and Alice (Bielema) VanderVinne. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. Jennie married Louis R. VanDyke on February 21, 1933 in Fulton, IL. He died October 24, 1989. She was employed, along with her husband, as custodian at Union Grove School for several years. She was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and a member of the church"s Lydian Society. One of her greatest enjoyments was baking cookies for family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, Betty McDonnell of Morrison, IL and Janet (Angelo) Stroffolino of Fairbanks, AK; four grandchildren, Mitzi (David) Read, Joel (Kathy) McDonnell, Robert (Kelly) McDonnell, and Daniel (Anne) McDonnell; seven great grandchildren, Lyndsey, Matthew and Mark McDonnell; Jordan and Shelby McDonnell; Ella and Eli McDonnell; and one great great granddaughter, Kaelyn McDonnell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; one granddaughter, Dawn Propheter; four sisters, Lucy VanderVinne, Effie Wiersema, Dina Engelkens, and Helen Green; four brothers, Martin, Peter, Dave, and Bennie VanderVinne.
