Obituary for Jennie Decker
JENNIE DECKER, 100, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Friday, May 14, 2010 at the nursing home. Jennie was born March 10, 1910 in Erie, IL, to John and Jennie (Smith) Van Zuiden. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. Jennie married Alder Decker on February 12, 1932 in Erie, IL. He died January 21, 2006. She farmed with her husband in the rural Albany, IL area for 34 years. Jennie was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and the church"s Lydian Society. Survivors include one daughter, Jeanette (John) Bielema of Hooppole, IL; one son, Dewey Decker of Erie, IL; nine grandchildren, Rodney (Karlene) Decker, Darrell Decker, David (Val) Decker, Randy (Lori) Decker, Arlyn (Melissa) Decker, Rusty Decker, Melinda (Tom) Snowden, Laurie Church, and Brenda (Mark) Hagemeier; nineteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Gertrude Van Zuiden of Fulton, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alder; one daughter-in-law, Alberta Decker; a great granddaughter, Haley Church; three sisters, Ella Naninga, Anna Van Zuiden, and Kate Van Zuiden; six brothers, Henry, John, Louis, August, Fred, and Frank Van Zuiden.
