Obituary for Jean A. Blair
JEAN A. BLAIR, 90, of Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL, died on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the center. Jean was born on June 10, 1923, in Prophetstown, IL, to Anton J. and Nannie Elizabeth (Ackeberg) Gibson. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County and Prophetstown Grade Schools and was a 1940 graduate of Prophetstown High School. She also attended American Institute of Commerce in Davenport, IA. Jean married Eldon LeRoy Blair on November 8, 1942 in Prophetstown. He died February 22, 1994. She was employed by Republic Electric in Davenport, IA, and also worked as a secretary in the office of Social Services for Morrison County in Minnesota. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was very active on the Parsonage Building Committee and was part of the church"s W.E.L.C.A. Jean was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star " Sterling Chapter #354. She was also a member of the Prophets Hills Country Club. She enjoyed golfing, flower gardening and playing cards. Jean was proud of her family heritage and her church. Survivors include one niece, Pat Albrecht of Prophetstown, IL; one nephew, Charles (Neva) Emery of Prophetstown, IL; several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon; one sister, Irene Emery; one brother-in-law, Charles C. Emery.
