Obituary for Jay E. Brondyke
JAY E. BRONDYKE, 92, of The Alverno Health Care Facility, died Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the care facility.Jay was born September 23, 1924, in Ustick Township, IL, to John A. and Nellie (Klimstra) Brondyke. He was educated in the Cottonwood School in rural Whiteside County and attended Fulton High School. On May 6, 1948 he married Alberta A. Klooster in Fulton. Jay was employed as a carpenter for Herman DeVries Builder and then worked for Pella Window Company, Rock Island, IL, for 20 years. Later he returned to carpentry, working for Rick Huizenga Construction until retirement. Throughout his working years he did many carpentry and cabinet projects for the area residents. He was a member of Second Reformed Church in Fulton where he served as an elder and deacon and church treasurer. He participated in the churchs Mens Brotherhood, sang in the Mixed Quartet and also the 2 x 4 Octet. He enjoyed woodworking and wood carving, listening to gospel music and spending time with family and friends.Survivors include his wife, Alberta; two daughters, Debra (Steven) Wheat and Diane (Larry) Ottens, both of Fulton, IL; one son, Duglas (Christina) Brondyke of Clinton, IA; seven grandchildren, Jason (Lisa) Wheat, Lindsay (Jeremy) Cagle, Michelle (Mark) Clarkson, Jacqueline (Daniel) Chapeck, Adam (Sarah) Brondyke, Ryan Brondyke, Genna Schneeberger; seven great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Wilma Rick; three brothers, Albert, Rensie and Paul Brondyke.
