Obituary for Janet K. Tichler
JANET K. TICHLER, 92, of Resthave Home, Morrison, IL died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the home. Janet was born March 25, 1919 in Morrison, IL to Rank R. and Minnie (Fossen) Buikema. She was educated in Langdon School of rural Whiteside County. Janet married Jay L. Tichler on February 16, 1940 in Morrison. He died October 23, 1994. She was first employed as a nanny and private duty housekeeper. Following marriage, she farmed along with her husband, Jay, in the Morrison area for 40 years, retiring in 1980. Janet was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, the church"s Ladies Aid and Lydian Societies, and the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed embroidery, doing word puzzles, and walking. She also sent many cards to friends and family. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane (John) VenHuizen of Morrison, IL and JoAnn (Rev. Jim) Stralow of Freeport, IL; one son, Arlyn (Marilyn) Tichler of Morrison, IL; six grandchildren, Bob (Nadine) VenHuizen, Sue (Gabe) Gomez, Dave (Debbie) Stralow, Dan (Ange) Stralow, Deb (Greg) Dyson, and Brian J. Tichler; eight great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jay; four sisters, Betty Hey, Stella Buikema, Dorothy June Richmond, and Ella Mae Pruis; two brothers, John and Renzie J. Buikema; one brother-in-law, Willis Tichler who made his home with Janet and her husband.
