Obituary for Jane L. Vanderlaan
JANE L. VANDERLAAN, 88, of Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, formerly of Clinton, IA, died Friday, July 21, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Jane was born August 30, 1917 in Morrison, IL, to Richard H. and Rika (Brilstra) Brackemyer. She was educated in the grade schools of rural Whiteside County. Jane married Bert Vanderlaan on February 9, 1940 in Morrison. He died January 17, 1986. She was employed by the former Nielsens Coupon Clearing House in Clinton, IA, until retiring in 1977. Jane was a member of Community Reformed Church in Clinton and of the church"s Joy Circle. She had served as a Sunday School and Catechism teacher. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework, crafts, and spending time with family and traveling. Survivors include two sons, Rev. Robert (June) Vanderlaan of Rhinebeck, NY and Vernon (Kathy) Vanderlaan of Sterling, IL; seven grandchildren, Jeanne (Dale) Langrehr, Jodi Atilano, Jennifer (Andrew) Houzenga, Craig Vanderlaan, Brett (Kim) Vanderlaan, Shawn Gough and Jennifer Gough; six great grandchildren, Tyler Gough, Ashley & Hailey Atilano, Asia Langrehr, Dylan Houzenga, Kai Vanderlaan; one sister, Mrs. Lena Barsema of Fulton, IL; and one brother, Richard Brackemyer of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; one daughter, Audrey Cox, four brothers, Henry, Ray, Jacob, and Bob Brackemyer.
