Obituary for James L. Kramer
JAMES L. KRAMER, 95, of Prophetstown, IL, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown, IL with military funeral honors. Rev. Mark Meyers, pastor of Prophetstown United Methodist Church, will officiate. The Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home is assisting the family. A memorial has been established to Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center.
Jim was born May 8, 1923, in Henning, MN, to William R. and Cleoria (Hadsall) Kramer. He served in the US Army during WWII. Jim married Maisie L. Swanson on November 6, 1948, in Kewanee, IL. Jim worked on the family farm and in factories in Galva and Kewanee. Most recently, he was employed as a trooper by the Illinois State Police from 1957 to 1983, holding the rank of master trooper at the time of retirement. Jim was a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church, the Prophetstown Masonic Lodge #293 AF & AM, Order of the Eastern Star, Prophetstown Historical Society and Prophetstown American Legion Post #522. Jim volunteered as a driver for Prophetstown Ambulance and as a para transport driver for Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center. He enjoyed restoring and driving classic automobiles, gardening, and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Maisie; one daughter, Michelle Kramer of Bryan, TX; two sons, Michael (Dyan) Kramer of Lyndon, IL and Kevin Kramer of Prophetstown, IL; three grandchildren, Zachary Allen, Ella Kramer, and Clare Kramer; and one sister, Marie Pettit of Pekin, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Robert, John, and Fred Kramer.
