Obituary for Jack L. Boerema
JACK L. BOEREMA, 79, of 520 Christopher Street in Morrison, IL died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Champaign, IL. Jack was born on May 14, 1929 in Fulton, IL to Duke and Reka (Sissing) Boerema. He was educated in the Morrison grade schools and graduated from Morrison High School in 1947. He married Lorraine Bush on January 20, 1951 in Morrison, IL. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1961. He later married Arlene M. Renkes-Tulon on October 11, 1964 in Morrison, IL. She died on August 22, 2003. Jack served in the U.S. Army after graduation. He later owned and operated Boerema Shoe Store in Morrison, IL for 40 years retiring 1993. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, IL. Jack was also a member of the Morrison Chamber of Commerce as well as the Morrison American Legion Post #328. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren"s various activities. Survivors include on daughter, Jacqueline (Mark) Katrein of Missoula, MT; two sons, Rick (Rita) Boerema of Mahomet, IL and Tim (Patricia) Tulon of Davenport, IA; four grandchildren, Aaron and Rachel Boerema, Ted and Kelsey Tulon; one sister, Betty (Marvin) Arians of Sterling, IL; one aunt, Elsie Boerema of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and both wives, Lorraine and Arlene.
