Obituary for Irvin L. Kennedy
IRVIN L. KENNEDY, 86, of Prophetstown, IL, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at his home. Irvin was born November 16, 1926 in Spring Hill, IL, to John and Ida (Heller) Kennedy. He graduated from Prophetstown High School in Prophetstown, IL. Irvin served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He married Beatrice Freeman on February 2, 1952, in Schuylkill Haven, PA. He worked for 38 years at the Rock River Lumber and Grain in Prophetstown, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Prophetstown, a member of the Prophetstown American Legion Post #522, and was also active with the Prophetstown Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; one daughter, Linda (Michael) Blumhoff of Dixon, IL; three sons, John (Linda) Kennedy of Prophetstown, IL, Tom (Sally) Kennedy of Morrison, IL, and Robert (Nicole) Kennedy of Buena Vista, CA; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and two on the way. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Martin and Verna Kennedy and one brother, Kenneth in infancy.
