Obituary for Iris T. Eye
IRIS T. EYE, 93, of Thomson, IL, died Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at MercyOne Medical Center in Clinton, IA.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 24, 2019, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Ken Renkes officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, June 23, 2019, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lower York Cemetery in Thomson, IL. Memorials have been established to York Community Church and Thomson Fire Department.
Iris was born February 12, 1926, in Lanark, IL, to Frederick and Wilma (Wade) Miller. She was educated in the rural Carroll County Grade Schools and was a 1943 graduate of Chadwick High School in Chadwick, IL. Iris married Walter W. Eye on July 7, 1973, in Fulton, IL. He died January 21, 1991. She was employed by General Electric in Morrison, IL, for 36 years, retiring in 1986. Iris was a member of York Community Church in Thomson where she served as pianist and organist. She enjoyed traveling, music, reading, and working puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Nancy (Greg) Faust of California, one grandson, Christian Eye of California; one sister, Janice Brunner of Thomson, IL; one brother, Richard (Karen) Miller of Thomson, IL; two brothers-in-law, Merle Bielema of Thomson, IL and Gene Halfman of Mt. Carroll, IL; one daughter-in–law, Leona Eye of California, many loving and devoted nieces and nephews; and a special neighbor, Alice Halfman of Thomson, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; one son, Charles Eye; one granddaughter, Cheryl Eye; one grandson, Larry Eye; two sisters, Carol Bielema and Phyllis Halfman; one brother, Ivan Miller; one sister-in-law, Barbara Miller; and one brother-in-law, Loyal Brunner.
