Obituary for Irene Bush
IRENE BUSH, 99, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at CGH Medical Center, Sterling, IL. Irene was born September 26, 1912 in Aurora, IL, to Edwin and Mary (Engelkens) Glazier. She was educated in the Bunker Hill Grade School of rural Whiteside County, attended Clinton High School in Clinton, IA and graduated from Morrison High School in 1931. She married Paul Bush on February 13, 1934 in Fenton, IL. He died June 27, 1991. Irene worked at the Rich"s Toy Factory in Fulton, IL. She farmed along with her husband in the Mt. Pleasant Township for 57 years and has lived in the same house since 1937. She volunteered at Self Help Inc. in Sterling, IL and as a pink lady at the Morrison Community Hospital. She was a charter member of Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison where she taught Sunday School and Catechism for many years. She also participated in the church"s Fellowship and Study Group and Missionary Society. She was a member of the Whiteside County Homemakers. Irene enjoyed gardening, sewing, needlepoint, and spending time with her family. Survivors include one son, Lawrence Bush of St. Clairsville, OH; nine grandchildren, Steven (Sue Devers) Schroeder, Tom (Margaret) Schroeder, Charlie (Carrie) Bush, Sandra (Larry) VanDerLeest, Michele (Paul) Figie, Tisha Bush, Wesley (Katie Grime) Bush, Shola (John) Mazgaj, and Michael Bush; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; three sisters, Marjorie (Roger) Rhoades of Fenton, IL, Lillian Unger of Morrison, IL, and Reva Armstrong of Morrison, IL; one brother, George (Ramona) Glazier of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; one daughter, Yvonne Gray; one son, Wesley Bush; one daughter-in-law, Arline Bush; and one sister, Marie Conner.
