Obituary for Iola D. Newendyke
IOLA D. NEWENDYKE, 72, of Missouri, died Saturday November 27, 2021 at Pines Nursing Home in Missouri.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Cottonwood Cemetery in Morrison, IL. Iola’s nephew, Rev. Jul Medenblik, President of Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI, is officiating. There will be no visitation. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Iola was born December 30, 1948, in Driesum, Friesland, Netherlands, to Julius T. and Eleanora (DeVries) Medenblik. She was educated in the Fulton Christian School and graduated from Fulton High School, both in Fulton, IL. She married Elwyn D. Newendyke on February 11, 1978 in Fulton. He died on January 8, 2015. Iola had been employed with Fidelity Life Association and Agri King, both in Fulton.
Survivors include one sister, Edith (Dale) Schaver of Fulton; two brothers, Bill (Mary) Medenblik of Fulton and Lambert (Martha) Medenblik of Rock Hill, SC; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Medenblik of Fulton; two brothers-in-law, John Salverda of Fulton and Laverne Newendyke of Morrison, IL; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elwyn; two sisters, one in infancy and Dorothy Salverda; six brothers, Charles, Garrett, Auke, Lambertus, Romke and Ronald Medenblik.
