Obituary for Howard R. Nelson
HOWARD R. NELSON, 85, of 600 Christopher Street, Morrison, IL, died Monday January 7, 2008 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL. Howard was born May 10, 1922, to Roy G. and Myra (Howard) Nelson, in Clinton, IA. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and graduated from Morrison High School. He married Jean M. Rawlins on November 18, 1942 in Morrison. She died August 17, 1990. He then married Dorothy L. Bielema on February 5, 1994 in Morrison. Howard started, owned and operated Nelson"s Electric in Morrison, IL for many years. He was member of the Morrison United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. He was a member of the former Morrison Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Dolores (Mrs. Cecil) Stralow of Temecula, CA; one son, Dr. Douglas (Donna) Nelson of Ojai, CA; one step daughter, Nancy (Dan) Hill of Morton, IL; two step sons, Larry (Mardi) Bielema of Washington, IL and Dale (Jo) Bielema of Peru, IL; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren; one sister, Anabelle (Mrs. Harold) Tucker of Garden Plain, IL; one brother, Hugh "Whitey" (Shirley) Nelson of Morrison, IL. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean; two sisters, in infancy.
