Obituary for Horace T. Mason
HORACE T. MASON, 94, of 501 5th Street, Fulton, IL, died Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center West in Davenport, IA. Horace was born March 9, 1912 in Long Grove, IA, to Benjamin Franklin and Emma Mae (Stuth) Mason. He was educated in the Long Grove and Lyons, IA grade schools. Horace served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. He married Dorothy A. Morrow on June 29, 1939 in Clinton, IA. She died May 3, 1997. Horace was employed at the former E.I. DuPont Company in Clinton, IA for 27 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of the Clinton, IA Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Bishopric of the Clinton Ward, served as Sunday School President and also as the church"s custodian. He was a member of the American Legion " Fulton Post #402. Horace was founder and first President of the DuPont Cellophane Employees Credit Union. He was proud of having constructed his own home. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Ann (Mrs. Virgil) Frey of Peoria, IL and Linda Mae Clarke of Fulton, IL; two sons, Keith (Barbara) Mason of Springdale, AR and Danny (Gloria) Mason of Pittsburgh, PA; ten grandchildren, Todd (Karen) Frey, Daren (Jenny) Frey, James (Gina) Frey, Peter Drew (Tiffany) Clarke II, Ruth Anne (Mrs. Christian) Sanchez, Beth Louise (Mrs. T.J.) Martin, Jennifer Ernswiller, Elizabeth (Mrs. Joshua) Tillotson, Christian (Michelle) Mason, and Kellene (Mrs. Troy) Ferguson; twenty-six great grandchildren; one brother, Louis Mason of Sun City, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; a grandson, Paul Thomas Mason, three sisters, Alice Manning, Helen Crider, and Marjorie Baird; two brothers, Lyman Mason and William in infancy.
