Obituary for Homer J. Pessman
HOMER J. PESSMAN, 97, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Monday, December 14, 2009 at the nursing home. Homer was born September 2, 1912 in Fulton, IL, to Louis and Agnes (Sikkema) Pessman. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. Homer married Dora J. Newendyke on December 31, 1940 in Lyndon, IL. She died April 18, 2009. Homer farmed, along with his late wife, Dora, in the rural Morrison area, retiring in 1978. Following retirement, he did lawn mower and small engine repair. Homer was a member of the Morrison Christian Reformed Church and had served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. Homer"s passions were playing pool and following the Cubs. Survivors include one daughter, Joanne (Warren) Musser of Morrison, IL; one son, Arlyn (Jane) Pessman of Morrison, IL; five grandchildren, Laurie (Marty) Ybema, Brenda (Allen) Schaver, Sally (Tom) Byrnes, Kathy (Kevin) Polson, and Michael (Katie) Tichler; nine great grandchildren; two step grandchildren, Laurie (Patrick) Neubauer and Rae Ann (Randy) Buch; five step great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Julia Beveroth and Mrs. Dorothy Kramer both of Morrison, IL; Harriet (Howard) Wierema of Phoenix, AZ; and Ella (Arthur) Kramer of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dora, and one brother, Lewis Pessman.
