HERBERT R. RICHMOND, 76, of 714 W. Park Street, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL. Herbert was born May 13, 1928 to Paul E. and Mary (Carroll) Richmond in Morrison, IL. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools. Herb married Georgia L. "LaVonne" Dennis on March 1, 1953 in Morrison. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was engaged in farming in the rural Morrison, IL area and later operated Richmond Trucking, retiring in 1996. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Morrison where he served as a trustee and usher. He was a member of the Dunlap Lodge #321 AF & AM in Morrison. Survivors include his wife, LaVonne; two daughters, Becky (Steve Sturtevant) Willey and RoAnn (Mrs. Steve) Porter both of Morrison; four grandchildren, Heather (Mrs. Ben) Porter-Engwall, Justin (Jessica) Porter, Holly Porter, and Ashley Willey; three sisters, Joann (Mrs. Myrle) Linton of Coleta, IL; Mrs. Mary Lou Johnson of San Bernardino, CA and Mrs. Jane Jackson of Clinton, IA; two brothers, Harry (Pat) Richmond of Morrison, IL and Daniel (Lois) Richmond of Beloit, WI. He was preceded in death by two children in infancy; three brothers, Frank, John, and Arthur Richmond.
