Obituary for Herbert Eugene Beswick
HERBERT EUGENE BESWICK, 80, of 100 S. Jackson Street, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at C.G.H. Medical Center in Sterling, IL. Herb was born on March 8, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant Township, IL, to William T. and Hilda E. (Conrady) Beswick. He was educated in the McIlrath and West Clyde Grade Schools of rural Whiteside County. He attended Morrison High School. He married Irene Elizabeth Bartz on September 30, 1950 in Morrison. Herb was employed by the Lyndon Tile Factory in Lyndon, IL. He then worked as a farm hand for various Whiteside County farmers. Later he was employed by the Northwestern Steel & Wire Company in Sterling. Most recently he worked for the Farmers Elevator and Supply in Morrison, from 1956 until retiring February 13, 1993. He was a former member of St. Mary"s Catholic Church in Morrison and a current member of the Morrison United Methodist Church. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, the Morrison Toast Masters Club, and I.O.O.F. and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #276 in Sterling. He enjoyed playing pool, watching his grandchildren play sports and keeping track of the train traffic through Morrison. He was an avid Cubs fan. Survivors include his wife, Irene; two daughters, Marian (Oliver) Kennedy of Greenfield, WI and Susan (Don) Mahoney of Morrison; one son, Thomas (Dawn) Beswick of Morrison, IL; seven grandchildren, Patina Pope, Bart Pope, Neal (Sarah Smith) Mahoney, Donna Mahoney, Evan Mahoney, Marcy (James) Shank, Renee Haan; four great grandchildren, Kyle and Demery Haan, Joseph Shank, Ayden Mahoney; two sisters, Dorothy Rosenow of Morrison, IL and Marge (Sam) Woodruff of Pisgah Forest, NC; three brothers, Bob (Rita) Beswick of Rock Island, IL, Dick (Grace) Beswick of Morrison, IL and Eddie (Cathy) Beswick of Manteca, CA. He was preceded in death by one son, Danny Beswick.
