Obituary for Helen Stern
HELEN G. STERN, 93, of Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the nursing home. Helen was born on July 26, 1916 in Morrison, IL to Henry and Hulda (Stralow) Rosenow. She was educated in the Langdon School of rural Whiteside County. She married Ernest W. "Bud" Stern on March 16, 1934 in Sterling, IL. He died January 16, 1998. Helen, along with her late husband, farmed in the rural Morrison area, until moving to Morrison in 1981. Helen was a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sterling, IL, and the church"s Ladies Aid Society, having served as president and secretary. She also has served as a Sunday school teacher. Survivors include three daughters, Marlene (Dick) Ottens, Mary (Mike) Beswick, and Debbie (Gary) Heusinkveld all of Morrison, IL; nine grandchildren, Bob Pruis, Tim (Marlene Franzen) Pruis, Cheryl Bush, Steve (Deanna) Ottens, Jackie (Craig) Winkler; Michelle Fuller, Melinda (Rocco) Todaro; Amanda (Mike) Tummillo, Adam Heusinkveld; fifteen great grandchildren, Brent, Ryan & Typhani Pruis; Callie, Hailey & Lucas Franzen; Tara & Jason Bush; Brianna, Nick & Samantha Todaro; Ethan & Jacob Fuller; Nick & Alex Tummillo. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud; one daughter, Mildred Stern; one sister, Emma Bomgartz; three brothers, Carl, Alvin and Ernest Rosenow.
