Obituary for Hazel R. Penn
HAZEL R. PENN, 83, of Geneseo, IL, formerly of Albany, IL, died Monday, April 3, 2017, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.Hazel was born November 18, 1933, daughter of Dempsey Clark and V. Ruth (Hussong) Anderson. She was raised in Cordova, IL and Fulton, IL. She attended Fulton High School, graduating her Junior year in 1950. She was married to Alvin E. Jordan for 17 years and had two children, Stephen Jordan and Belinda Haigwood. She later married William Penn in 1968 in Albany, IL. Hazel loved to sew and spent many years sewing and cleaning for people in the community. She worked for General Electric and later for Volckmann Furniture/Ethan Allan both in Morrison, IL, retiring in 1990. She had also upholstered furniture in her home for many years. She took pride in her yard and home and spent much of her free time outside in the yard and garden.Hazel is survived by her children, Stephen (Bethany) Jordan of Albany, IL and Belinda Haigwood of Geneseo, IL; six grandchildren, Jacob (Stephanie) Jordan, Amber (Jesse) Upah, Travis Jordan, Jeff Haigwood, Ashley (Eric Frantzen) Haigwood, and William Haigwood; five great-grandchildren, Austin Jordan, Dominic Jordan, Baylie Haigwood, Cecilia Upah and Iris Upah; along with her furry friend, Nina Sue.Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one great-grandson, Kamryn Ashmore-Haigwood; one sister, and two brothers.
