Obituary for Harry Mosher Jr.
HARRY MOSHER JR. 92, died at Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison, IL, on Tuesday, November 12, 2013.Harry was born 29 October 1921, to Harry and Anna Hayen Mosher at home in rural Whiteside County. He was educated in North Clyde School and farmed with his father until his enlistment in the Army in 1942. He saw action in the Pacific Theater " Guadalcanal, New Guinea, and Okinawa " and served with the Occupation Forces in Yokohama, Japan, until his return to the United States and subsequent discharge in 1946. He was a lifetime member of both Morrison"s American Legion Post #328 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8281. He served for a number of years in their color guard / firing squad for funerals and other military events.Upon his release from active duty, Harry worked at the Savanna Ordnance Depot, Ice Cooling Appliance, Herman Nelson in both Morrison and Brownsville, TN. He also worked at Hustler Conveyor, both in Peoria, IL and St. Louis, MO, until his retirement in 1986.He married Elizabeth E. "Betty" Bodkin on 23 November 1946. He is survived by his wife; his son, Richard L. (Connie) Mosher of Morrison; three grandchildren, Kevin E. Mosher of Clinton, IA, Brian D. (Jessie) Mosher of Ruther Glen, VA and Tami L. (Edward) Wolfe of Montclair, VA; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Anna; his brothers, Elmer, Leonard and Glen.Per Harry"s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private graveside service with military rites has been accorded at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL, with the Pastor Robert Burton of Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison, officiating.
