Obituary for Harold J. Klooster
HAROLD J. KLOOSTER, 83, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at his home. Harold was born March 30, 1929 in Garden Plain Township, IL to Rubertus and Jennie (Venema) Klooster. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a 1947 graduate of Fulton High School in Fulton, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Harold married Louise Lundy on December 5, 1952 in Fulton, IL. As a young man, Harold worked at various farms in the Fulton area. He then was employed by Sweet and Linsky Pillsbury Feed Company, then by Climax Company in Clinton, IA, Liquid Carbonic Company in Morrison, IL, Volckmann Furniture Factory in Morrison, IL, and Sears in Clinton, IA. He also worked at the Gambles Store in Fulton, IL and later owned and operated it. After selling the Gambles Store, he owned and operated Klooster Plumbing in Fulton. Harold was a member of Second Reformed Church, the Fulton Chamber of Commerce, and the American Legion Fulton Post #402. Survivors include his wife, Louise; one daughter, Kimberly Klooster-Penca of Fulton, IL; one son, Dale (Carol) Klooster of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren, Ella and Aidan Penca, Alison and Anya Klooster; two sisters, Gertrude Van Zuiden of Clinton, IA and Alberta (Jay) Brondyke of Fulton, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steven Jay Klooster and in infancy, Mark Evan Klooster; two sisters, Dena Wilkens and Jeannette Wilkens; and one brother, Gerald Klooster.
