Obituary for Harold D. VanOosten
HAROLD D. VANOOSTEN, 87, of Erie, IL, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Trinity Rock Island in Rock Island, IL. Harold was born October 11, 1925, in Garden Plain, IL, to Charlie and Margaret (Heun) VanOosten. He married Marilyn Heusinkveld on October 21, 1946, in Morrison, IL. He was engaged in farming in the Erie area all of his life and had a real passion for his work. He was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison and served as the Fenton Township Trustee for many years. Harold enjoyed bowling and participated in leagues for over 50 years. He liked playing cards with friends, watching the Chicago Cubs, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; one daughter, Patricia James of Erie, IL; two sons, Larry (Connie) VanOosten of Erie, IL and Charles (Sandra) VanOosten of Plant City, FL; seven grandchildren, Jeff (Terri) VanOosten, Amy (John) Powell, Heather (Shane) Strawn, Ashley VanOosten, Jill (Chad) Stewart, Mike (Christine) James, and Lisa (Stephen) Bayne; fifteen great-grandchildren, Emma and Zach Powell, Isabell, Matt, and Avery VanOosten, Peyton and Eli Strawn, Sydney and Taylor Stewart, Michael, Christopher, and Jack James, Matthew, Jacob, and Sarah Bayne; and one sister, Arlene (Jake) Damhoff of Erie, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
