Obituary for H. Ben Ellicott
H. Ben Ellicott, 83, of Morrison, IL went to be with his Lord on October 23, 2008 at the Four Seasons Center, Morrison, IL. At his request, his body was donated to the Northern Illinois University Department of Biological Sciences. Ben was born February 25, 1925 in Vandalia, IL. He grew up during the Great Depression and served in the South Pacific during WWII with the US Navy. Ben married Mary Willms on September 8, 1949 in St. Elmo, IL and earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1950. He joined General Electric that same year and was transferred to Morrison in 1952. He and Mary built a home at 505 South Jackson Street and raised three boys, Jim, Tom, and Max. Ben was an ordinary, yet great man often sought for his wisdom, humor, and unique perspective. His passions were faith, family, farming, and a distinct love of country. Ben is survived and missed by his wife Mary Ellicott; three sons, Jim Ellicott of Fenton, IL, Tom Ellicott of Gettysburg, PA, and Max Ellicott of Cordova, IL; their wives; two sisters, Adah Manby of Rockford, IL and Harriet Hagen of Kings Mountain, NC; ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers. The family wishes to thank those involved with the care giving to Ben, especially during the last several weeks of his life. We only wish you could have known him in his strength.

MEMORIAL SERVICE WHEN AND WHERE: Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Brethren in Christ Church, 209 E. Knox Street, Morrison, IL
