Obituary for Grace Vander Ploeg
Grace Vander Ploeg (Postema), age 88, of Grand Rapids, went to be with her Lord after a long battle with Parkinsons. She was a firm believer in God, committed to her husband and her family, and service to the community. She was a creative seamstress who showed her care to her family and others. She was born in the Netherlands and resided in Morrison, IL, and Grand Rapids. In 1955 Grace willingly left her family in the Netherlands to start a new family in the United States. Her husband, Edward; and her brothers, preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Arie (Rosa Perez) van der Ploeg, Barbara (David) Wiebenga; her grandchildren, Nikolaas van der Ploeg, Mieka van der Ploeg, Shelby (Michael) Heyboer, Carrie Lanning, Jonathan (Michelle) Wiebenga; great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Samuel, Sydney Heyboer, Travis, Jordyn Lanning; her sister, Leen van der Ploeg of the Netherlands; many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held 2 pm Saturday, January 26, at Stroo Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, MI. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 12 to 2 pm prior to the service.Graveside Services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, January 28, 2013 at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL with Rev. Gerald Norman officiating. The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
