Obituary for Grace Jean Dykstra
GRACE JEAN DYKSTRA, 78, of 219 Pine Street, Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison. Grace was born January 17, 1929, in Morrison, IL, to Peter and Cornelia (Hamstra) Ven Huizen. She was educated in the Morrison grade and high schools. She married Robert E. Dykstra on October 31, 1952 in Morrison. Prior to her marriage, Grace worked at the Morrison and the Wessel Jewelry Stores in Morrison. She farmed along with her husband in the rural Morrison area, and was employed as a private housekeeper. She then worked in housekeeping at Pleasant View Nursing Home for 18 years. Grace was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, and had taught Sunday school there. Survivors include her husband, Robert; two daughters, Carol (Mrs. Dennis) Wilson of Galesburg, IL and Beth (Mrs. Rick) Poen of Bourbonnais, IL; three grandchildren, Jennifer and Mark Wilson, and Brandon Poen; one brother, John (Mary Jane) Ven Huizen of Morrison, IL. She was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Hudson; one brother, Fred Ven Huizen.
