Obituary for Grace A. Bowen
GRACE A. BOWEN, 85, of Sterling, IL, formerly of Lyndon, IL, died Thursday, July 20, 2017, at The Regency in Sterling, IL.Grace was born February 20, 1932, in Fulton, IL, to Fred A. and Mamie M. (Moore) Eads. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School in Morrison, IL. She married Robert J. Bowen on April 1, 1950, in Morrison, IL. He died June 24, 1999. Grace was first employed by the Morrison Telephone Company and later for the Whiteside County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service as office manager. Most recently, she was employed by Lyndon Lumber and Grain in Lyndon, IL. Grace was a former member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church and was active in many aspects of the churchs ministry. She was currently a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church. Grace enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed writing poetry, singing, cooking, and baking.Survivors include one daughter, Judi (Kevin) Buhlman of Lyndon, IL; one son, Bryan (Susan) Bowen of Lyndon, IL; three grandchildren, Brea (Jesse) Eich, Jamie Buhlman, and Brandon Bowen; one great-grandchild, Raylan Scott; and one brother, Jim (Shirley) Eads of Prophetstown, IL.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; three sisters, Thelma Diehl, Esther Rhodes, and Betty Lou Truckenmiller; three brothers, Fred, Richard, and Alfred Eads.
