Obituary for Glenn E. Bechtel
GLENN E. BECHTEL, 85, of Fulton, IL, died Monday, October 28, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Ia. Glenn was born March 9, 1928, in Morrison, IL, to William and Winnie (Milnes) Bechtel. He was educated in the Cobb Grade School of rural Whiteside County and was a 1946 graduate of Morrison High School in Morrison, IL. Glenn married Rhea Green on January 26, 1949, in Fulton, IL. Glenn, along with his wife Rhea, farmed in the rural Morrison and Fulton, IL areas. He was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church where he served as elder and deacon. He was an ASCS committee member for 25 years. Glenn enjoyed golfing and bowling. In his younger years, Glenn was an avid softball player. Survivors include his wife, Rhea; three daughters, Glenda Nicke of Rock Island, IL; Ellen (Gregg) Pessman of Fulton, IL; and Rev. Dr. Carol (Thomas Mullens) Bechtel of Holland, MI; one son, Scott (Sandi) Bechtel of Fulton, IL; seven grandchildren, Nathan (Kimber) Nicke, Brian (Shawna) Nicke, Dan (Amy) Bechtel, Steve Bechtel, Jennifer (Shawn) Anton, Andrew (Melanie) Reynolds, Ellen (fianc" AJ Tedeschi) Reynolds; two step grandchildren, Elyssa (Wes) Chubb and Ian Mullens; seven great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brad Lee Bechtel in infancy; one sister, Lucille Nice; and one brother, Everett Bechtel.
