Obituary for Glen W. Scott
GLEN W. SCOTT, 80, of 713 Lawrence Lane, Prophetstown, IL, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Prophets Riverview Good Samaritan Center, Prophetstown, IL. Glen was born November 19, 1930 in Neponset, IL to John and Margaret (Failon) Scott. He was educated in the rural Bureau County grade schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. Glen married Marjorie Cordrey in Kewanee, IL. She died in 1967. He later married Marlene Lewis on June 5, 1969 in Prophetstown, IL. Glen was first engaged in farming in the Neponset, IL area during which time he also worked as a mechanic for the John Deere dealership in Wethersfield, IL. Most recently, he was employed as a tool and die maker for Penberthy Manufacturing in Prophetstown until his retirement. Glen was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Prophetstown and a member of the Glass, Molders, Pottery, Plastics, and Allied Workers Union, AFL-CIO-CLC Local #468. He had served as a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed boating, fishing, woodworking, and repairing bicycles. Glen was known as a "world class" husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa. Survivors include his wife, Marlene; three daughters, Joleen (Dave) Batten of Tampico, IL; Amy (John) Levan of Caldwell, TX; and Beth (Dan) Stephens of Springfield, IL; five sons, Roger (Dorine) Lewis of Janesville, WI; Gary (Joanie) Lewis of Salt Lake City, UT; Brian (Kandi) Scott of Lyndon, IL; Dennis (Terry) Lewis of Bloomington, IL; and Greg (Jill) Lewis of Carmel, IN; twenty-five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Elaine (Les) Brooks of Aptos, CA and Sue Linzey of Kewanee, IL; one brother, Jack (Sue) Scott of Neponset, IL. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie; one son, Brent Scott, and two brothers in infancy.
