Obituary for Gladys M. Karras
GLADYS M. KARRAS, 80, of 607 S. Portland Avenue, Morrison, IL, died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at her home. Gladys was born May 11, 1928 in Mendota, IL to Francis M. and Luella C. (Gustavson) Harvey. She was educated in the Mendota Grade Schools and was a graduate of Mendota High School. She attended Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL. Gladys married George Karras on March 16, 1947 in Mendota. He died January 2, 1998. She was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 29 years at the Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters, Sarah A. Karras of Morrison and Marcia (Roger) Norris of Gainesboro, TN; one son, George (Karen) Karras, Jr. of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Fred) Burnette and Mrs. Verla Shaw both of Mendota, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; one son, John Karras; two brothers, Ronald Harvey and William Harvey in infancy.
