Obituary for Geraldine Peterson
GERALDINE PETERSON, 98, of Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Friday, July 10, 2009 at the nursing home. Geraldine was born November 29, 1910 in Olivet, KS to Adin W. and Cora E. (Thomas) McCune. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and attended Lyndon High School in Lyndon, IL. She married Walter C. Peterson on January 16, 1929 in Dixon, IL. He died January 31, 1987. Geraldine farmed with her husband in the Morrison area, until retiring in 1969 when they moved to Morrison. She was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church and church"s United Methodist Women"s Association. Geraldine enjoyed quilting and sewing. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Shivel of Lawrence, KS and Shirley (Darrell) Berry of Bakersfield, CA; one son, Wallace (Joanne) Peterson of Morrison, IL; eight grandchildren, Angie Blanchard, Walter (Janie) Shivel, Debbie Berry, Kelly Berry, Paula Jansma, Jerry (Barbara) Peterson, Lori Peterson, and Terry (Teresa) Peterson; ten great grandchildren, Gunner Blanchard, Nelson and Natalie Shivel, Kendrea and Andrew Ross, McKenna and Austin deBack, Courtney and Brandon Jansma, and Rachel Peterson; one great great grandson, Chad Jansma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; one granddaughter, Kathy Jo Peterson; one great grandson, Garrison Blanchard; and one brother, Robert McCune.
