Obituary for Geraldine M. Gerry Johnson
GERALDINE M. "GERRY" JOHNSON, 84, of 41 Locust Street, Prophetstown, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at her home. Gerry was born March 30, 1928 in Oak Park, IL to Dr. Arthur and Mary Alice "Mae" (McLeod) McDonald. She was educated in the Oak Park Grade Schools and was a graduate of the Oak Park/River Forest High School in Oak Park, IL. She married Craig V. Johnson on October 16, 1954 in Oak Park, IL. Gerry was first employed in the purchasing department of the Sunbeam Corporation in Chicago, IL. She later was employed by Farmers National Bank in Prophetstown, IL as an internal auditor. Gerry was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Prophetstown and served as the church"s secretary for many years. She was active in many different aspects of the church"s ministry. Gerry enjoyed golfing, gardening, playing bridge, knitting, and collecting antiques. Survivors include her husband, Craig; one daughter, Laura (Keith) Hechtel of Angola, NY; two sons, Dan (Janine) Johnson of Downers Grove, IL and Eric (Lynn) Johnson of Davenport, IA; six grandchildren, Keith and Katy Hechtel; Luke and Martin Johnson; Aaron and Ethan Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and Raymond McDonald.
