Obituary for Gerald M. Gerry Stuart
GERALD M. "GERRY" STUART, 82, of Atlantic, IA, formerly of Clinton, IA died Friday, December 22, 2006 at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, IA.Gerry was born August 16, 1924 in Morrison, IL to Henry J. and Cornelia (Rose) Stuart. He was a 1942 graduate of Morrison High School. He attended St. Augustine College in Chicago, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served in the European Theatre; taking part in D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. He also served in the Philippines. Gerry married Dorothy A. Van Dyke on May 2, 1950 in Morrison, IL. He was an insurance agent in Atlantic, IA for over 20 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a Boy Scout leader for Troop #60 , and a member of Atlantic Pymosa Lodge #271 AF & AM all of Atlantic, IA. He was a member and past president of Nishna Hills Golf Club. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; one son, Craig (Lori) Stuart of Atlantic, IA; one daughter-in-law, Karen Stuart of Winona, MN; five grandsons, Derek (Shelley) Stuart of Highlands Ranch, CO; Bryan (Valerie) Stuart of Liberty, MO; Kevin (Alanna) Stuart of Mason City, IA; Christopher Stuart of Winona, MN; and Michael Stuart of Minneapolis, MN; four great grandchildren, Mychaela, Jayden, Lynnea, and Ellie; two brothers, Edward (Harriett) Stuart of Morrison, IL and John Stuart of Fulton, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Stuart; and one sister-in-law, Jan Stuart.
