Obituary for Gerald A. Woods
GERALD A. JERRY WOODS, 78, of Fulton, IL, died Friday, November 11, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. Jerry was born March 9, 1938, in Clinton, IA, to Thomas E. and Florence Marian (Kramer) Woods. He was educated in the Fulton grade schools and was a 1956 graduate of Fulton High School. He married Brenda J. Ware on November 18, 1978 in Nashua, IA. Jerry was first employed by O. Jorgensen and Sons Construction, and then by Ringland Johnson Construction in Clinton. Next he was employed by the Portland Cement Association in Chicago, IL, the Safer Foundation in Davenport, IA, Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete Association in Aurora, IL and finally, Iowa Ready Mixed Concrete Association in Ankeny, IA. He was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers and Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons International Association. Jerry also had a scholarship named for him through Iowa Ready Mixed Concrete Association. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulton. Jerry was an avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan and an Elvis Presley fan. A memorial has been established by the family. Survivors include his wife, Brenda; four children, Kelly Renee Woods of Hernando, MS; Shawn Patrick Woods of Clinton, IA; Karla (Larry) Boldt of Waterman, IL and Kristina (Shawn) Bailey of Geneseo, IL; two grandchildren, Matthew Scudder and Hannah Bailey; four brothers, Richard (Janis) Woods of Freeport, IL; Michael (Karen) Woods of Champaign, IL; Dennis (Patricia) Woods of Fulton, IL and Larry (Eva) Woods of Thomson, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Patricia Riordan; two brothers, Thomas and David Woods.
