Obituary for Geradus Vogel
GERADUS VOGEL, 85, of 828 14th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Thursday, February 23, 2006 at his home. Geradus was born November 25, 1920, in Fulton, IL, to Martin J. and Nellie (Wierenga) Vogel. He attended Fulton High School. He married Ruth Norman on February 8, 1946 in Fulton. Geradus engaged in farming in the rural Whiteside and Carroll County areas until his retirement in 1983. He then worked with his son-in-law doing custom combining. He was a member of Second Reformed Church in Fulton, IL, and had served as a deacon and elder. He sang in the church"s choir, taught Sunday school, was a RCYF Leader and a member of the Men"s Brotherhood. He volunteered at the Fulton Food Pantry, delivered Meals On Wheels and enjoyed bicycling and playing horseshoes. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one daughter, Judy (Mrs. Wilson) Bull of DeWitt, IA; one son, Arnie (Pam) Vogel of Fulton, IL; seven grandchildren, Sherri (Shawn) Bly, Keith Vogel; Jim Bull; Paul Vogel, Marla (Mrs. Jeremy) Wiersema, Andy Vogel and Ben Vogel; five great grandchildren, Brennen, Evan and Cassidy Bly; Rebecca and Mackenzie Wiersema. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ken Vogel and one in infancy; two brothers, J. Marvin Vogel and Paul David Vogel, in infancy.
