Obituary for Georgia V. Norem
GEORGIA V. NOREM, 83, of 18760 14th Street, Fulton, IL, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Bluff Terrace Nursing Facility in Clinton, IA. Georgia was born November 28, 1922 in Belmond, IA to Christopher and Geska (Miendus) Groen. She was educated in the Belmond, IA grade schools. Georgia married Durward A. Norem on June 23, 1946 in Clarion, IA. He died May 20, 1989. She and her late husband owned and operated the former Norem Salvage business in Camanche, IA and later in Fulton, IL. She was a member of the Fulton Presbyterian Church and was a volunteer at Harbor Crest Nursing Home with bingo. She enjoyed the fellowship of family, playing bingo, and traveling. Survivors include one daughter, Ginny (Mrs. Bob) Doescher of Morrison, IL; two sons, Larry (Lawana) Norem of Fulton, IL and Durward C. (Marilyn) Norem of Clinton, IA; sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Durward; one sister, Christina Norem, and one brother, Harm Groen.
