Obituary for George S. Drolema
GEORGE S. DROLEMA, 96, of Fulton, IL, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, IL. George was born June 20, 1912, in Union Grove, IL, to Siert and Grace (Venema) Drolema. George"s youth was spent in the Morrison area. For a time he and his family lived in the Dakotas. They later traveled back to this area on the dirt roads of Route 30. He served in the Army during WWII. He married Gertrude M. Huizenga on January 20, 1953 in Morrison. She died June 9, 2001. George was first employed by Pillsbury in Clinton, IA. Later he worked for Borgman and Huizenga Feed and Fuel in Fulton, IL, then Climco Coils in Morrison, IL, from where he retired. After retirement he worked at Sebert"s Gas Station in Fulton. He was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Fulton, where he served as deacon and church custodian. Survivors include one son, Roger (Gail) Drolema of Albany, IL; two grandchildren, Jesse (Abbey) Drolema of Dubuque, IA and Alyssa Drolema of Albany, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; four sisters, Ann Kooi, Gertrude Buikema, Theresa Eissens and Tena Akker; one brother, Rich Drolema.
