Obituary for George L. Temple
GEORGE L. TEMPLE, 91, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, December 25, 2021, at Resthave Home.
His funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Morrison with Mr. Rich Criss, Ministry Coordinator of Emmanuel Reformed Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. A memorial has been established by the family.
George was born February 17, 1930, in Garden Plain, IL, to Burnie & Minnie (Medema) Temple. He was educated in the Hope Grade School in Garden Plain and was a graduate of Fulton High School. He married Helen M. Port on December 14, 1950, in Morrison. She died on January 15, 2014. George was a farmer and hauled livestock for many years. He also worked at Farm & Fleet, and drove school bus at night for RC Smith for over 10 years. He was later a maintenance man for the Whiteside County Home until retiring. George was a member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, in Morrison, IL and member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening in his free time.
Survivors include his daughter, Sally Ward of Morrison; his two sons, David (Linda) Temple of Morrison, and Robert (Judith) Temple of Morrison; ten grandchildren, Jeannie (Jon) Thulen, Tiffany (Brooks) Soleta, Monica (Gary) Steen, Justin (Rebecca) Temple, Brandon Temple, Dorrie (Scott) Manon, Sherry Price, Jason (Katie) Akker, Andrew (Martha) Akker, and Halie Jo (Alexander) Burge; seventeen great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Catherine Temple of Clinton, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; one sister, Clara (Lyle) Pelham; one brother, Elmer Temple.
