Obituary for Genevieve M. Wiersema-Richmond
GENEVIEVE M. WIERSEMA-RICHMOND, 84, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA. Gen was born February 16, 1928, in Newton Township, IL, to Fred J. and Stella (VanOosten) VanZuiden. She was educated in the Fenton Grade School in Fenton, IL, and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She married Paul "Slim" Wiersema on September 24, 1948 in Morrison. He died December 22, 1990. She then married Frank P. Richmond on June 13, 1991 in Morrison. He died on December 11, 2001. Gen farmed with her first husband, Slim, in the Ustick Township area of Whiteside County. Most recently she was employed for many years as a sales clerk at the former Peterson Drug Store in Morrison. She was a member of the Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. Gen enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, cooking and baking. She won several ribbons for flower arranging at the Whiteside County Fair. Survivors include two sisters, Henrietta "Mae" Johnson of Rockford, IL and Marjorie Stichter of Rochelle, IL; one brother, Raymond (Virginia) VanZuiden of Morrison. She was preceded in death by her parents, and both husbands.
