Obituary for Genevieve A. Genny Olson
GENEVIEVE A. "GENNY" OLSON, 90, of Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, IL, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the nursing home. Genny was born March 22, 1922, in Fulton, IL, to Jacob M. and Grace (Vogel) Balk. She was educated in the Fulton Grade School and graduated from Fulton High School. She attended Clinton Jr. College in Clinton, IA and also Hope College in Holland, MI. On October 1, 1955, she married Fred T. Olson in Fulton. He died March 4, 1997. Genny was employed at Curtis & Company and also the YMCA, both in Clinton, IA, but primarily she was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Clinton. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, several great and great-great nieces and nephews; one sister, Elaine (Larry) Sikkema of Fulton. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Theresa Huizenga and LaVonne Balk; three brothers, Curtis, Melvin and Elmer Paul Balk
