Obituary for Geneva DeWitt
GENEVA DEWITT, 87, formerly of Fulton, IL, peacefully passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Bickford of Clinton, Clinton, IA.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, officiated by Rev. Michael Hooker, pastor of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton. There will be a visitation from 4:00 – 6:30 PM Friday, April 9th at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fulton Twp. Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
Geneva was born April 17, 1933, in Prairie View, KS to William and Margaret (Kneubel) Dewitt. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools of Smith and Otter Bluff, and was a 1951 graduate of Fulton High School. Geneva worked at the Garment Company and Agrico, and then for 30 years as a bookkeeper for Brinkman & Pessman Building Center in Fulton. She volunteered her time at the Windmill Cultural Center, Friends for Charity and had a great a love for volunteering at the Pregnancy Center in Clinton. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church where she served as an elder and a Sunday school teacher for 40 years. She was a former member of the church’s Rebecca Society, attended Bible studies and met with the Coffee Break group. She also was a member of Christian Women’s Club in Clinton. Geneva made the ceramic ‘cradle roll’ shoes for all babies and children who were baptized at First Christian Reformed Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Alice (Larry) Beeman and Marjorie Henningsen, both of Ada, MI; a brother-in-law, Kenneth MacDonald of Grand Rapids, MI; a nephew, William; four nieces, Brenda, Nancy, Susan, and Leeann; many grand nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Dewitt; a sister, Claretta MacDonald; a brother-in-law, Jon Henningsen.
