Obituary for Francis M. McBride
FRANCIS M. "MAC" MCBRIDE, 95, of 403 Sycamore Street, Albany, IL, died Monday, June 1, 2009 at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton, IL. Mac was born May 9, 1914 in Sparta, WI, to Frank J. and Margaret F. (Ewert) McBride. He was educated in the Sparta, WI grade schools. Mac married Elizabeth T. Winkler on April 18, 1938 in Crown Point, IN. She died November 15, 1980. He later married Beverly L. Williams-Wickes on December 16, 1983 in Camanche, IA. Mac was employed the Northwestern Steel and Wire Company in Sterling, IL for 42 years. Following retirement, he was employed by the Sterling Mobil Gas Station for 11 years. In his early youth, he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was active in bowling and horseshoe-pitching leagues for many years. He also enjoyed fishing and playing pool. Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Albany, IL; two sons, Paul McBride of Dixon, IL and Mark McBride of Rock Falls, IL; six daughters, Mary Bolding of Alma, AR; Elizabeth (Gaylord) Cartwright of Camden, TN; Rose Marie Huston of Rock Falls, IL; Dorothy (Keith) Murray of Sterling, IL; Patricia (Michael) Barney of Dixon, IL and Martha McBride of Bloomington, IL; eighteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one step daughter, Jessie McWilliams of Albany, IL; three step sons, Kyle (Donna) Wickes, Jr. of McCormick, SC; Thomas (Joy) Wickes of Albany, IL; and Glenn (Debbie) Wickes of Batavia, OH; seventeen step grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth; three sisters, Elinor Wueben, Edith Cook, and Anne Hay; three brothers, Robert McBride, William McBride, and Raymond Smith.
