Obituary for Frances T. Tate
Frances T. Tate, 96, of the Hammond-Henry Long Term Care Facility in Geneseo, IL, formerly of Kewanee, IL, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 at the care facility.Frances was born September 4, 1917, in Prophetstown, IL, to Theodore and Martha (Smith) Taber. She was educated in the Prophetstown Grade Schools and was a graduate of Prophetstown High School. On October 17, 1939, she married Victor F. Tate in Prophetstown, IL. He died December 25, 1990. Frances was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Drives and the Crippled Children"s Clinic in Kewanee, IL. She was a member of bridge clubs and book clubs in Kewanee, IL and Davenport, IA. She served as a "Gray Lady" hospital volunteer in Davenport, IA and helped establish a hospital volunteer program in Kewanee, IL. Frances was active and attended the First Congregational Church in Kewanee and enjoyed traveling throughout the nation and internationally. Frances had a special affection for dogs and had several over the years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Harold) Harmon of Lakewood, CO, and Marti Cisler of Geneseo, IL; one daughter-in-law, Antha Tate of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Tom) Sedjo-Delate, Scott Sedjo, Todd (Lisa) Cisler, Lisa (Jim) Busch, and Ian Tate; seven great grandchildren, Victoria and Everett Delate, Ethan and Olivia Cisler, Adam, Elizabeth and Peter Busch. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Victor; one son, Steve.
