Obituary for Faye Burkhardt
FAYE BURKHARDT, 94, of Fulton, IL, died Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA.
The funeral will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Fulton Presbyterian Church preceded by visitation from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Rev. Catherine Martin will be officiating. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery. The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial to Fulton Presbyterian Church has been established.
Faye was born June 10, 1924, in Prairie City, IA, to James R. and Emma M. (VanHeukelom) Timmins. She was educated in the Prairie City Grade School and graduated from Prairie City High School in 1941. She attended Simpson College in Indianola, IA. On March 1, 1949, she married Robert E. “Bob” Burkhardt in Fulton, IL. He died on May 22, 2000. Faye was employed as a waitress for the former Bush’s Café in Fulton. She was a member of the Fulton Presbyterian Church, served on the Calling and Membership Committee and served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Women’s P.W. of the Presbyterian Church. She served as election judge for several years and volunteered at the Windmill and Cultural Center in Fulton. She was also a member of the Fulton American Legion Auxiliary. Faye enjoyed reading, knitting and traveling.
Survivors include two daughters, Roberta “Bobbie” Chase of Tampa, FL and Marilyn (Richard) Hepner of Lena, IL; one son, Robert “Gene” (Linda) Burkhardt of Knoxville, IA; four grandchildren, Birgie (Ed) Wolf, Jamie (Sheila) Lampe, Brett Burkhardt, Erin Burkhardt; four great grandchildren, A.J. and Kristina Fernandez, Skyler Lampe and Devon Burkhardt; two great-great grandchildren, Eliany and Kelysie Fernandez; one brother, Joe (Carolyn) Timmins of Windsor Heights, IA; two sisters-in-law, Ardythe Timmins of Monroe, IA and Marie Burkhardt of Fulton; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded death by her husband, Robert; two sisters, Marian Talbert and Hazel Reeves; three brothers, George, Robert and Bill Timmins.
