Obituary for Evelyn M. Sissy Lawrence
EVELYN M. "SISSY" LAWRENCE, 93, of Albany, formerly of Prophetstown and Lyndon, IL, died Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA. Evelyn was born April 27, 1917, in Albany to Clyde E. and Bessie E. (Anglese) Rennecker. On June 5, 1937 she married Emery C. Lawrence. In early years, Evelyn worked at the Defense Plant and later at Eclipse Lawn Mower Factory. For over twenty-five years, Emery and Evelyn owned and operated E&E Lawrence Repair Shop in Prophetstown until Emerys death, Aug. 27, 1988. A year later, Evelyn returned to Albany to be near her family and friends. Evelyn was a lifetime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Albany. She was a devout Catholic who spent the majority of her time praying the rosary for anyone who called upon her to "work her beads" which were many in the community including her dedicated physician, Dr. Stephen Harrison. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Emery; infant daughter, Carol Sue; two sisters, Beulah and Evabelle; one brother, K.W. Rennecker. Survivors include her sister, Shirley Swanson of Albany; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, one great-great niece, Dena Cox, and one great-great nephew, Cullen Cox, in addition to a special niece and Goddaughter, Cindy (Barney) Barnhart. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a Sissy in their life; however those of us who did knew we were loved and blessed by her every day. Your wish finally came true".Rest in Peace!
